DR on Cloud

DR on Cloud

The unexpected loss of a production analytics system could mean more than just lost revenues; unplanned downtime can lead to loss of data and business reputation, decreased customer satisfaction and retention, reduced employee morale, productivity issues, and legal entanglements.

A pound of cure is worth an ounce of prevention.

Unexpected downtime of a production analytics system can result in more than just lost revenues; it can also result in data and business reputation loss, decreased customer satisfaction and retention, decreased employee morale, productivity issues, and legal entanglements.

What is the business impact of losing access to business-critical data on your Sj Solutionz system in the worst-case scenario? You need a plan to avoid such distress, and we can help. The first step is to calculate how long — weeks, days, or hours — you could go without your critical data. The primary factor in determining recovery time objective (RTO) as well as which recovery option is best for you is the impact on business functions.

Continuity of operations

When gathering requirements, it is critical to understand the three Sj Solutionz Business Continuity components: Data Protection, Recoverability, and Availability. Each component has its own characteristics and builds on the previous one to protect business-critical systems.

  • Data protection prevents data loss by using data replication (backup) with tape or over a network to create a secondary, offsite copy of critical data.
  • Recoverability is concerned with data restoration in the event of a catastrophic system loss and involves the establishment of a backup system following the declaration of a disaster.
  • Availability is active protection against planned and unplanned downtime by synchronising real-time data with a backup system.

Disaster recovery as-a-service

Sj Solutionz Disaster Recovery As-a-Service (DRaaS) addresses a critical need for cost-effective business continuity by allowing customers with an advocated backup and restore (BAR) solution using Veritas NetBackup and Dell EMC Data Domain to replicate on-site backups to the public cloud as frequently as desired and then restore them in a disaster scenario.

When a disaster is declared, a previously-architected Vantage system is launched in the pre-selected public cloud region, and the most recent backup is restored and made ready for use. This service includes the option of performing an annual test and running the cloud system for two weeks to validate that the service meets your corporate governance requirements.

Managed disaster recovery

Managed Disaster Recovery is a cloud-based set of services that can help you with your disaster recovery (DR) needs. It provides two levels of recovery: Managed Cold-DR and Managed Warm-DR. Each has a different recovery time objective (RTO) and recovery point objective (RPO) (RPO). This enables you to select the most appropriate DR solution for your critical Sj Solutionz systems based on your needs and technical landscapes.

It works like this: when a disaster is declared, a previously designed Sj Solutionz VantageTM system is made available in a pre-selected public cloud region. The environment is provisioned with the last archive restored for Cold-DR (estimated 72 hour* RTO), and the environment is enabled for production use for Warm-DR (estimated 24 hour* RTO).

Following the initial configuration, Sj Solutionz will provide testing support twice a year in the event of a DR event.
